What Depth should Swimming Pool be?

Depth of a swimming pool is simply a matter of preference and depends on who will be using the swimming pool. Small children seem to enjoy swimming in the "deep end" and diving for things. By "diving", I mean from within the water, not diving from the side. Most home swimming pools are too shallow for diving from the side. Older children may prefer a "sports pool" which is shallow on each end and slightly deeper in the center to accommodate a volleyball net. Adults who simply want to lounge around the swimming pool may prefer a "party pool" that is 3-4 feet throughout. Ultimately I decided to go with a standard shallow and deep swimming pool. It is 3 feet on the shallow end, and 8 feet in the deep end. The deep end is visually defined by the circular part of swimming pool.
